Nailah Ramcharan-Gibbs

Emerging dance artist and choreographer, Nailah Ramcharan-Gibbs is an athletic and energetic mover who is inspired by interdisciplinary collaborations. She’s primarily motivated by her lifelong immersion in music, gymnastics, and theatre. She has always been deeply entrenched in the local arts community, performing on stages throughout her hometown of Toronto, including Roy Thompson Hall, Massey Hall, and the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Nailah began her formal dance training at the Etobicoke School of the Arts where she double majored in Dance and Musical Theatre, going on to receive her BFA in Contemporary Dance at York University in 2019. During her time at York U she had the opportunity to work with influential artists through her involvement in the Toronto and NYC dance scenes, including Amy Hall Garner, Judine Somerville, Tracey Norman, Kylie Thompson, Christine and Lisa Brkich, and Suzanne Liska. Most recently, Nailah spent a year studying at The Ailey School and working with choreographers including Jacqulyn Buglisi, Carolyn Dorfman, Ross Daniels, Helen Simoneau, and Jennifer Muller.
