Shreya Jha

Shreya Jha is a Toronto-based composer, lyricist, playwright, and educator. Her first musical Statistics originated at the University of Toronto Drama Festival 2019 and won the Adams Prize for Musical Theatre at the Toronto Fringe Festival. She has had three other musicals programmed at the University of Toronto – Connections in November 2019, LUV (written as a collaboration) upcoming, and 18 Palace Road upcoming.
Shreya also composes contemporary classical music - the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra has commissioned her four times. The Gryphon Trio has twice premiered her work at their Trinity College coffeehouses. The Bold City Contemporary Ensemble programmed her piece in their 2017-2018 season.

Shreya received her Associate of the Royal Conservatory in piano performance with honours in June 2016 and also plays violin and viola.

Shreya has taught composition at Sistema Toronto since September 2018. She is keenly interested in the intersections between music and health, particularly in the context of education. Her undergraduate research project investigating piano performance and heart rate variability is available for preprint in JMIR mHealth and uHealth.
