Tama Martin is a Toronto-based dancer, actress, musician and singer from the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. She has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, Afro-Caribbean and theatrical dance, as well as the piano, steel-pan and drum-kit. She is recognized for her magnetic storytelling onstage. In St. Kitts, Tama worked extensively as a dance teacher and conducted numerous, free theatre-jazz dance workshops. She also served as the pianist for her church. With a passion for musical theatre, Tama is grateful having performed in Toronto in shows such as 'Once On This Island', 'Mary Poppins', 'The Rocky Horror Show' and 'Legally Blonde'. Throughout her journey she has encountered individuals such as Janelle Cooper ('The Color Purple', Neptune), Saccha Dennis ('Come From Away', Mirvish), and Lisa Auguste (SYTYCD Canada), that continue to inspire her. She enjoys teaching Afro-Caribbean dance in Toronto, and is always eager to teach its history and techniques. She credits her Afro-Caribbean training to her power when dancing. Tama continuously discovers herself in dance, her forever first love, and yearns to share that love with the world.
